It has been 31 years today since the New Zealand First Party was formed.
We built our party on a set of fundamental principles and a simple mission to put New Zealand and New Zealanders first. Now, 31 years down the track, our principles, values, and vision are needed more than ever.
You voted New Zealand First back into government so that we could use our 31 years of experience and advance our influence and our vision for New Zealand.
Nine months into this term and we are delivering on the promises we made to you:
- Set an independent Covid Inquiry
- Secured funding for 500 extra police officers
- Established the $1.2B Regional Infrastructure Fund
- Stopped Three Waters and the Māori Health Authority
BUT, we cannot get complacent. We have to keep building on our achievements, and keep building an even stronger influence, so our Party can keep delivering for New Zealanders. That means we need to keep the New Zealand First Party fighting-fit and future-proofed.
We negotiated hard with our coalition partners and secured more in our coalition agreement for New Zealand First voters than many thought possible – and we will deliver on it.
However, much needed policies and actions taken by New Zealand First are often framed by mainstream media as ‘controversial’, ‘far right’, or ‘fringe’– while the radical behaviour from the likes of Te Pāti Māori and the Greens using terms like ‘genocide’, ‘white supremacy’ and ‘extermination,’ are often totally ignored – validating their destructive and separatist rhetoric.
Certain mainstream media outlets spin their own view of a siloed society while ignoring the views and voices of the silent majority.
It is crucial to our mission that New Zealanders have access to accurate, unbiased information about what is going on in their country. As a party, New Zealand First strives to provide this but, to help us do more, we need to raise the necessary funds.
We have a lot to accomplish in this term through our coalition agreement that was designed to turn this country around.
But taking back our country requires advancing the policies that supporters like you voted for AND holding the line against divisive elitist agendas.
We cannot afford to let the Opposition’s woke lunacy take hold. Every day is a battle for democracy, common sense, and everyone getting a fair go.
New Zealand is the beneficiary of Western values, democracy, and the rule of law. Our once great society was built on hard work and a fair go for everyone. We have a chance now, but bold steps are needed to continue to build on our new direction and lift our country back to where it belongs.
If you believe in our mission and want to see us succeed despite our determined detractors – do your bit for the future of New Zealand First.
Happy 31st birthday!
