Interesting to see the coalition’s take on the Jobseeker benefit today, and it’s proposed changes on how the tax payer funded benefit can be spent.
In our view the Jobseeker benefit is a smokescreen for plenty of losers to sit at home doing nothing, whilst pretending to be looking for work.
Recently we chatted with a young lad who was looking for a job, and was applying for all sorts of roles. A good lad, personable, and keen to get a job so he had a stepping stone to being a valuable employee, so he could look to grow his career prospects, even if it meant he simply had a good CV by way of references due to his work ethic, despite the job he applied for. Simply put, he just wanted a job.
Thats quite rare these days as we seem to have bred a lazy loser mentality in so many kiwis.
Having reviewed some of these potential jobs, we noticed that there were hundreds of applicants, and sometimes a few thousand applicants.
How is any employer going to make their way through so many applications?
But what dawned on us is that these Jobseeker bludgers who love sitting at home doing fuck all are just simply doing the ‘weekly box ticking exercise’ of applying for jobs to qualify for the benefit.
Then these losers can say to WINZ etc “oh we applied for the required number of jobs last week but didn’t even get a call back”.
Meanwhile the small portion of the young adults who are driven to succeed, and are happy to contribute to society are missing out.
Just another disgrace that happened under Labours 2nd term during the Covid era, and the long suffering tax payer continues to pay the price.
